Made Unique is a Community Interest Company, a business registered with Companies House but also approved and monitored by the CIC regulator. This means that we have been created to benefit the community, rather than private shareholders, and our governing documents reflect this.

We’re an accredited member of Social Enterprise UK, meeting their criteria by…

  • Having a clear social mission set out in our governing documents
  • Reinvesting the majority of our profits
  • Being autonomous of the state
  • Being majority controlled in the interests of our social mission
  • Being accountable and transparent

You can read more about what makes a social enterprise here but for us it’s all about having a business model that keeps us focused on those individuals and families whose wellbeing can be improved through the power of creativity.

We’ve had some wonderful encouragement in our business journey. The amazing, free advice, training and one-to-one support offered by Wenta was foundational to getting established and we were grateful to have the opportunity to share about the impact of this help in a radio interview with Vibe107.6FM. More recently we’ve found the mentoring given through Hertfordshire Growth Hub’s Volunteer Business Support Scheme to be invaluable as we seek to grow our impact and make a greater difference to our community. You can read more about how we’ve benefitted from this brilliant scheme and some kind words from our mentor, Corinna Hartwig, in this case study from the University of Hertfordshire.
