Although we are quite a young company, some of our friendships go back a long way… Ruth Moffat, founder and director of Made Unique, shares a bit about the work of these brilliant organisations, and how we came to be friends!
Mercy UK is committed to restoring hope and transforming lives in partnership with local churches across the UK. They work to give people the tools they need to live free and to educate and equip those who want to help others reach new levels of freedom, wholeness and understanding.
I went on a training day with Mercy in 2015 and was especially impacted by hearing stories of how time in Mercy’s residential home had made a huge difference to the life of young women, helping them get free from life-controlling issues and encouraging them to dream again about what life could hold. Since that time we’ve stayed connected and now we’re so excited to collaborate to see even more people enjoying freedom and creativity.

One YMCA enables people to develop their full potential in body, mind and spirit through the supportive and energising communities they create. Hostels, gyms, family centres and youth clubs are all part of the range of programmes and services run to tackle the issues faced by local people, to support the most vulnerable, and to ensure opportunities for young people.
My husband, Chris, began working for OneYMCA back in 2014 and we’ve both been so inspired by the work done across the organisation. I’ve volunteered in a number of ways over the years but most recently Made Unique was able to partner on a project that we hope was the first of many. We created craft kits and worked together on a booklet of ideas and activities to be included in Wellbeing Packs that were delivered in person to 147 supported families.

St Andrews Bookshop began inspiring the local community of Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire back in 1957 and now also has shops in Oxford and Witney, as well as providing access to an amazing range of Christian books and resources through their website and the many organisations they partner with. A wealth of knowledge means excellent service, and big hearts mean a lovely warm welcome!
Made Unique began life while I still worked at this amazing family business and the St Andrews team have always been incredibly encouraging and supportive. Much of my retail experience comes from over 20 years of working here and it’s great to continue to work together whenever possible. Most recently St Andrews has kindly been serving as a collection point for our summer holiday craft kits

Watford Recycling Arts Project (WRAP) is one of a number of scrap stores around the country who take industrial and commercial bi-products and make them available for artistic use. They are passionate about environmental awareness and supporting creativity, and are run by a brilliant group of friendly volunteers.
As a Fine Art student in Bristol, I LOVED a trip to the scrap stores and I was delighted to discover one local to me now. Made Unique are only recent members but already have found so much to resource and inspire our projects. It’s amazing to browse such a massive range of materials and really encouraging to know that we’re doing our part in keeping them out of the landfill – definitely recommended!
